Easy & Useful Kitchen & Cooking Tips


1. While preparing Indian food or aiming for Indian flavors use red onions only,white or yellow onions do not have the same impact.
2. Immediately after boiling noodles,put them in normal cold water to separate them.
3. For cleaning smelly hands after chopping onions or garlic,just rub them on a stainless steel spoon.The steel is supposed to absorb the odor.
4. Wash vegetables before peeling or cutting to preserve the water soluble vitamins.
5. Peel vegetables as thinly as possible to preserve the minerals & vitamins.
6. Soak almonds in a cup of boiling water for 10 min.The skin will peel off easily.
7. When storing empty airtight containers,throw in a pinch of salt to keep them from getting stinky.
8. Wrap the fruits & vegetables in newspaper before refrigerating to keep them fresh for long.
9. Whenever curd is to be added to masala,it should be beaten well & add gradually.
10. To avoid browning of apples after cutting,apply a little lemon juice on the knife.
11. After peeling onions cut in half & soak in water for 10 minutes before cutting to avoid crying.
